TEMPLE, Texas — Scientists* from Switzerland recently released a report detailing how ugly flooring can affect your mental state, your mood, and even your sanity. As it turns out, according to a double-blind, house-wide, third-party, full-service, well-documented study from the Godiva-based Scientists Against Terrible Home Design (or SATHD), improving your mood can be as simple as installing new tile, stone, or laminate flooring.
Pictures of ugly flooring were shown to 5,000 homeowners and time and time again, the results showed that wrong flooring can kill your mood. While this may come as a shock to many, the folks at Gallery Design Center in Temple, Texas, have been saying it for years. Some of the terrible and surprising side effects of ugly flooring, according the report, are:
1) A General Sense of Discomfort
Many homeowners reported a vague and unsettling feeling, what one test subject referred to as “floor dread,” when they saw pictures of outdated floors. When test subjects were told that GDC had beautiful exotic wood floors, and then shown pictures of their Acacia, Brazilian cherry, and Bamboo wood flooring their sense of dismay lifted immediately.
2) Confusion and Irritability
For some of those tested, looking at floors from the 1980s and 90s made them genuinely angry. Of course, this led to less satisfying marriages and fewer activities like family game nights, dinner in the kitchen, or the desire to take a bath in a bathroom with ugly tile floors. But they weren’t stuck that way. In fact, those who had their wood floors installed by the design experts at GDC rated their relationship with their spouse as up to 2 to 3 times as more enjoyable and up to 20 times more stable.
3) Complete and Utter Insanity
It’s true! For the longer version of the Swiss study, scientists discovered that those who had stayed too long in their own homes with terrible flooring were eventually driven completely crazy by it. The scientists were shocked to find that even then, GDC’s high-quality flooring and limited lifetime warranty were able to bring them back from the brink.
All in all, the solution time and time again was GDC. From floor to floor, the Swiss scientists found that the only solution for Floor Dread was to book a meeting with The Gallery Design Center of Temple, Texas. Or simply stop by.
